Raymond Martens
Artist
Raymond Martens has a deep desire to draw and paint the beauty he sees
in God's creations. Among his favorite subjects are children,
landscapes, and aviation.
Martens' work has been included in the extensive collections of the
U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, Hawaii Air National Guard, Israeli
Air Force, Saudi Arabian Air Force, the Taiwanese Government, Arizona
Department of Public Safety, City of Phoenix (Sky Harbor International
Airport, the George Bush Presidential Library, and many private collections.
He has been honored with showings in the Smithsonian National
Air and Space Museum, the Minneapolis Institute of Fine Arts, the Champlin
Air Museum, the Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, the Air
Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, the
American Cultural Center of Madrid, Spain, and the Valley National Bank
Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Corporate works completed by Martens include Maidstone, UNOCAL,
Days Inn, State Farm Insurance, First Interstate Banking System, California
AAA, Colt Industries, Allied-Signal, Phoenix Suns, and Lutheran Social
Ministries of
the Southwest.
Ray Martens received a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from the
Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1971), and his Masters and Doctoral
degrees from Arizona State University (1972,1979). Today he is
an adjunct professor at Indiana University (Herron Art School) in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
Ray, his wife Prisca, and their children Matthew and Sarah, make their
home in Indianapolis, Indiana.
